- Existing intersection was located approximately 750 feet from at-grade railroad crossings for Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF
- CDOT redesigned the intersection so that it was grade-separated, which eliminated the at-grade railroad crossing with BNSF. UPRR and Douglas County teamed to eliminate the at-grade crossing.
- FHU, a subconsultant led coordination with Douglas County and UPRR to determine the preferred alternative for grade separation, submission of the PUC application, and production of construction documents
